FIRST CONVENTION - 1966

The First Convention was held on November 17 and 18, 1966 (i.e. soon after the formation of Association) in Karachi.

The theme of the convention was: "The Role of Management in Pakistan". It was inaugurated by Mr. Ghulam Faruque, the then Federal Minister of Commerce. The papers read at this Convention, by senior executive from various commercial and industrial organizations, were:

The Convention was held specifically with a view to highlighting the importance of managerial functions and responsibilities particularly in a developing economy such as Pakistan’s. This event was also to serve as a public projection of the attempts of the Association at promoting the concept of professional management in our country.

The Convention proved highly successful. This was demonstrated by the fact that it attracted more than 175 eminent delegates from various parts of Pakistan. The participants found it highly stimulating intellectually and professionally. The convention received vide acclaim in the management circles and press.

A book covering the entire proceedings of the Convention has been compiled and is available at MAP’s library in Karachi.
